The Family Planning program is designed to prevent unintended pregnancies by offering affordable methods of birth control accompanied by education and counseling. Pregnancy testing and appropriate counseling is available. Information regarding early and continuous prenatal care is provided if the pregnancy test and/or exam findings are positive for pregnancy.
The City – Cowley County Health Department provides Child Care Facility Compliance Oversight for Cowley County, including the following services:
Provide information to parents seeking child care
Process child care licensing/registration applications
Carry out monitoring visits to licensed child care sites
Investigate child care complaints
Provides monthly in-services for child care providers
Contact a school district's nurse to learn more about the fund and to be referred to apply for assistance. County children, up to 19 years old, may be eligible once a year for up to $250 in assistance for a variety of expenses including:
Medical equipment not covered by health insurance.
Travel expenses for out-of-town medical care.
Prescription medications not covered by insurance including co-pays.
Dental expenses not covered by dental insurance.
Other expenses approved by the advisory committee.
The fund will not cover expenses related to vision, orthodontia or office visit co-pays.
Cash Assistance (TANF), Income based child care, Child Support Services, Food Assistance Program, Family Preservation, Parental Skill Building, Vocational Rehabilitation, Prevention and Protection Services for adult and youth.

All Kansas infants and toddlers (birth to age 3) are entitled to a free developmental evaluation to determine if they are eligible for early intervention services. Children who qualify can receive no-cost, in-home, early intervention services for developmental delays or disabilities. REACH serves Cowley, Elk, and Chautauqua counties.
Bike safety, car seat safety, and other programming and resources. Coalition meets bi-monthly to support safety events. Past projects include bicycle helmet distribution, car seat safety checks, smoke detector distribution.
