Classes at Arkansas City and Winfield campuses

All four-year-olds in the county are eligible for free PreK. Three-year-olds are eligible for PreK if they qualify after a screening. Screenings may also determine eligibility for additional support through Head Start. Visit the county's Coop website and call 620-221-7021 to schedule your child's screening.

We do all that with a broader goal in mind than just treating illness or injury. Federally Qualified Health Center in Wichita that provides primary care, mental health (include anger management classes), dental care, and substance abuse counseling. We accept private insurance, all three Medicaid MCO plans and Medicare as well as provide a sliding fee scale based on income and the number of household members for those without insurance. Our medical visits (primary care includes prenatal, pediatric, chronic disease management) include lab costs which make our appointments affordable for community members. We now have two Spanish Speaking Mental Health Counselors. We are open Monday-Saturday and take Walk-ins.

Cash Assistance (TANF), Income based child care, Child Support Services, Food Assistance Program, Family Preservation, Parental Skill Building, Vocational Rehabilitation, Prevention and Protection Services for adult and youth.

Provides annual benefits to low-income seniors to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, herbs and honey from authorized farmers at Farmers Markets in Kansas. Applicants who qualify will receive a booklet of $5 coupons for a one-time annual benefit of $50 to purchase eligible foods from authorized farmers. Benefits are given out on a first-come, first-serve basis

All Kansas infants and toddlers (birth to age 3) are entitled to a free developmental evaluation to determine if they are eligible for early intervention services. Children who qualify can receive no-cost, in-home, early intervention services for developmental delays or disabilities. REACH serves Cowley, Elk, and Chautauqua counties.

The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) provides workers ages 55 & over who meet income guidelines, with an opportunity to gain key work skills by working in a real-world, real-time work environment. SCSEP participants gain critical skills that ultimately lead to locating and maintaining unsubsidized employment.

Why do participants enroll in SCSEP? Some have retired and want to stay active. Others have been laid off from long-term jobs. Still others want to reenter the workforce after raising a family or a change in their financial situation. Regardless of their specific reason, SCSEP participants are eager to work for the employers of today and tomorrow.

Joseph's Storehouse is a thrift store that accepts donations of gently used clothing and household items. We also distribute The Emergency Food Assistance Program for low-income individuals and families and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program for seniors. Both programs allow participants to receive food or commodities every month. In addition, we also have our own food pantry for short term emergencies, as well as our Good Neighbor Fund that may be able to assist with rent, utilities, or other emergency expenses. Clients are provided with a variety of nonperishable items such as canned vegetables, pancake mix, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, etc. as well as meat and bakery products while supplies last. Hygiene items such as toothbrushes and deodorant may also be available.
