At our National Cancer Information Center trained Cancer Information Specialists can answer questions 24 hours a day, every day of the year to empower you with accurate, up to date information to help you make educated health decisions. We connect patients, caregivers, and family members with valuable services and resources. Or ask us how you can get involved and support the fight against cancer.

For medical questions, we encourage you to review our information with your doctor.

The national Road to Recovery service may be able to provide transportation to and from cancer-related medical appointments. Rides are provided by volunteers and may not be available.

Description
Contact a school district's nurse to learn more about the fund and to be referred to apply for assistance. County children, up to 19 years old, may be eligible once a year for up to $250 in assistance for a variety of expenses including:
Medical equipment not covered by health insurance.
Travel expenses for out-of-town medical care.
Prescription medications not covered by insurance including co-pays.
Dental expenses not covered by dental insurance.
Other expenses approved by the advisory committee.

The fund will not cover expenses related to vision, orthodontia or office visit co-pays.

SHICK offers one-on-one, non-biased counseling and assistance to individuals and families either getting ready to sign up for Medicare, or those who already have Medicare. Volunteer counselors receive training on Medicare, Medicare Supplemental Insurance, Long-Term Care Insurance, and other health insurance issues that concern Kansans. SHICK counselors are not affiliated with the insurance industry. If you are new to Medicare or have questions about Medicare or Medicare related issues, SHICK counselors are available Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. for one-on-one appointments.
